New Fundamentals Research Group is a team of Italian architects and academics coordinated by Giuseppe Fallacara. The team is affiliated to the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture (DICAR) of the Polytechnic of Bari, and develops research projects which deal with the relationship between innovation and tradition in architecture.

Throughout the years, we has carried out research works on digital stereotomy, the history of construction and sustainable housing in the Mediterranean area. We maintain ourself active through teaching/learning activities, publishing textbooks, organizing lectures, workshops, and supervising Master’s and Ph.D. theses.

We do research collaborating with a solid network of companies. Our goal is to help SMEs in discovering the potential of digital crafting in the age of Industry 4.0. We strongly believe, in fact, that real innovation must involve as many people as possible.
DESIGN AND PROTOTYPES
We are constantly at work to imagine and fabricate new experimental prototypes. Our core areas are related to architectural stone elements, parametric design, digital fabrication and sustainable housing.
